2. ERW Steel Pipes
Currently these pipes are one of the most commonly used pipes in water, oil & gas transmission lines. These pipes are produced with different pressures and have high pressure resistance; also they are widely used in high diameters for tolerating high internal and external pressures; these pipes also have high flexibility, ease of installation and cutting.
Steel pipes are produced with diameters ranging from 16 to 3000 millimeters; these pipes are produced through two different methods mentioned in the following lines:
A) Pipes without longitudinal weld
These pipes are produced by the use of rolling method; this method is used for diameters below 500 millimeters.
B) Steel pipes with longitudinal seam weld

EFW These pipes are produced through converting steel sheet and/or plates into pipes and welding their edges with two methods of ERW and EFW. This method is used for producing pipes with diameters above 300 millimeters.
In Iran these pipes are produced with diameters ranging from 150 millimeters to 1400 millimeters and different working pressure. Additionally, steel pipes are produced with spiral method with diameters up to 2000 millimeters and in different working pressures. The above mentioned pipes do not have internal and external protective coating so it is necessary to protect them with insulation and coating materials such as cement coating and tar coating and sometimes with cathodic system. Steel pipe connections are usually welded but in case of considering separating the pipes they must be bolted.
